A CENTURY OF EXPERIENCE IN COMMERCIAL TRAINING

We are just at the beginning of an exciting new millennium that will bring many new developments. From a century of experience in economic education our college has learned to see rapid social change as a permanent challenge and a drive towards achievement. It is our task to enable our students to shape a positive future.

In order to make responsible decisions our students will need:

  • Expert knowledge
  • The ability to do methodical research and to solve problems
  • Social and communicative skills.

"Literacy" in the fields of the new information and communication technologies, the ability to communicate in several languages, and the willingness to bear social responsibility will be the standard requirements.

Our students are especially attracted to our college because of

  • The European dimension of our work and the many European contacts and exchanges
  • The close co-operation with commerce and industry.

Employers find that our students are well qualified to cope with the demands of modern business and industry.

In order to meet the high demands of a modern business education the Rudolf-Rempel College gives top priority to quality management.

ABOUT THE COLLEGE :
RUDOLF-REMPEL-BERUFSKOLLEG

The Rudolf- Rempel Business College, located in Bielefeld in the north of Germany, was named after the successful businessman Rudolf Rempel, who became an important political figure in the town during the 19th century and took part in the democratic revolution of 1848.

The Rudolf-Rempel-Berufskolleg has more than 4,500 students, whose ages range from 16 years to adult, and about 170 teachers. The school caters not only for German students  but also for students from many other countries, including Turkey, the former Yugoslavia, Italy and many more.

The school is located in pleasant easily-accessible surroundings in the south of Bielefeld. It is well-equipped with information technology and has good connections to local industry and commerce.

ABOUT THE TOWN : BIELEFELD

"Die freundliche Stadt am Teutoburger Wald."

The town of Bielefeld is situated in the North of Germany in the state of North-Rhine Westphalia. With about 325,000 inhabitants this university town is a lively regional centre for shopping, light industry and commerce, also offering a cultural perspective- with an impressive opera house, various museums and concert halls and many cinemas. Known as a "city in the country" Bielefeld also offers the opportunity to enjoy the peaceful countryside. The hills of the Teutoburg forest surround the city and offer superb views of the city and surrounding area. The town is easily-accessible by motorway and railway. (Cologne-Hanover)

EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITES

Rudolf-Rempel-Berufskolleg offers full and part-time courses which mainly concentrate on the fields of business and commerce, banking, administration and health administration. Subjects like current affairs, languages and physical education are also integrated into many courses.

The college has three main sectors:

  1. One sector caters for people who do various courses of vocational training which are regulated by the state. In this "dual system" trainees receive one part of their training as in-company training and another part in day-release or block-release courses in vocational colleges. It is well worth mentioning that the Rudolf-Rempel-Berufskolleg has pioneered in European co-operation in vocational training by hosting Danish guest students who very successfully completed full German apprenticeships in International Forwarding.

  1. Another main sector offers full-time course of 1 to 3 years duration on various levels.

Some of the courses on offer in the full-time section are:

Handelsschule- Basic pre-vocational training in Business Studies. Successful completion of this course improves the students' chances of getting an apprenticeship or continuing their studies. With this course they can obtain the FOS-Reife which is roughly equivalent to G.C.S.E level in Britain.

Zweijährige Höhere Handelsschule- This is a two year course for students who hold the FOS-Reife. The course combines Business Studies and languages. It leads to a qualification called Fachhochschulreife-FHR (similar to the A-level in Britain) for entry into a Fachhochschule (a type of university).

Höhere Handelsschule für Abiturienten- This is an intensive business course for those who have already passed the Abitur (The equivalent to A-Level in Britain). The course is bi-lingual- several subjects are taught in English.

EIBE- This course is targeted at students with A-levels who want to gain core economic competences on a European level. The students are trained in three European countries (FIN, NL, D) and leave our college with the title "European Marketing Assistant". For more information follow the EIBE-link or contact Mr Martin Heyd.

Fachoberschule- This course offers students the opportunity to reach university entrance level. It is suited to those who have already completed an apprenticeship and wish to further their knowledge.

Wirtschaftgymnasium- This course offers students the opportunity to prepare themselves for a promising career in business and administration as well as the choice of continuing their studies at university. The course leads to the Abitur or the AHR.

  1. The third main sector offers business courses of three years’ duration for adults with full-time jobs. These courses are taught in the evening and on Saturday mornings. The courses lead to the qualification - "Staatlich geprüfter Betriebswirt" - and they cater for people with work experience who want to qualify for management postitions. Courses are offered in the fields:
  • Sales and Marketing
  • Accounting and Taxes
  • Personnel and Human Resources
  • Health and Administration
